Vivienne Westwood 2009 Collection

hot. from the vest to the bear.

I've always been a bit dubious to say I'm a fan of Westwood - there's such a cliche involved with it: Fashion design students ALWAYS say Westwood and McQueen are there inspiration.

I just love that she's come from nothing, learnt really fucking well how to cut and how fabric works with body shapes. and she can sew like a mother-fucker. And she can do a look, and it's all really adaptable.

Colour, or Lack there of in Current Fashion - Dom + Clinton talk

i'd like to have a discussion with you about this:

I feel that people now days are scared of colour. this morning I was walking to work and was the only person wearing a colour.

do you believe this is true? people are scared of colour.

go to any store, and it's all black. grey.

thoughts?

Monotone Morbid Madness
Everywhere black on black and occasional shades of grey. apparently black is the new black. Do you think they will discover a colour/shade
that will supersede black?
This plague of morbidity is most predominant in corporate circles. One need only look to the CBD streets during peak times, to find examples of monotone monstrosities.
I myself am offended by this narrow minded embrace of fashion, and feel a splash of colour never hurt anybody. In fact, not only does colour brighten ones
outfit and complexion,
but it brightens up the worlds of all those in its path. Colour is not a virus that people should immunise themselves from. You should not cross to the other side of the street when you see colour coming but instad greet it with open arms.

...that is all

Rag & Bone - Fall 2008 Collection

Rag & Bone make really well tailored, masculine menswear... I haven't
seen them anywhere in Australia, but I think I'm in love.

The lines of the front panels on this jacket reminds me of a funeral tuxedo from the 1800's, with an updated collar and cuffs. The contrasting coloured lines in the tie and cardigan are amazing. It's also nice to see some "normal" pants in a collection as well, not too tight and not extremely baggy.

This suit is amazing, the double breasted single row buttons and the asymetric front with contrasting collar. Well cut and tailored. The Yves Klein Blue duffel is great, a big difference to the dark greys and blacks.

And I'm a sucker for an oversized collar or hood. period.
I'm thinking of Donna Tartt's "The Secret History" for my wardrobe, tailored and old school with modern elements to keep you guessing what period it's in.
